GOVERNMENT UNVEILS HERITAGE-BASED EDUCATION CURRICULUM

New Guidelines Set to Revitalize Education System
Harare – In a move aimed at promoting cultural heritage and national identity, the Government has released comprehensive guidelines for the implementation of Heritage-based education, spanning from 2024 to 2030. The new curriculum is expected to revitalize the education system and enhance the quality of education in Zimbabwe.
According to Secretary’s Circular Number 4 of 2024, dated April 23, the Heritage-based education curriculum is designed to promote cultural heritage and national identity among students. The guidelines provide a framework for implementation, including teacher training, resource development, and assessment strategies.
Primary and Secondary Education Permanent Secretary, Moses Mhike, emphasized the importance of Heritage-based education in promoting national pride and unity. “This new curriculum is a significant step towards preserving our cultural heritage for future generations,” he said.
Education sector stakeholders, including teachers, school administrators, and education officials, have welcomed the new guidelines, citing the need for a more inclusive and culturally relevant education system.
The implementation of the Heritage-based education curriculum is expected to commence in the second term of the school calendar, with teachers and education officials undergoing training and orientation programs to ensure a smooth transition.
