First Lady Unveils Poultry4Vanambuya Empowerment Scheme in Hurungwe

Zimbabwe’s First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa, has launched the Poultry4Vanambuya Empowerment Scheme, distributing 5,500 free-range chickens to elderly women across Hurungwe constituencies. The initiative, under the Agric4She patronage, is aimed at addressing food security and empowering women economically. Hundreds of beneficiaries, primarily elderly women, will gain from this program, which aligns with the government’s push to leave no place behind in development efforts.
In a ceremony marked by community enthusiasm, the First Lady emphasized the importance of women’s active participation in agricultural initiatives. She noted that these efforts not only combat poverty but also foster community unity and resilience. This follows her previous initiatives, such as the Command4She and Pfumvudza programs, which have already impacted thousands of women nationwide, providing inputs and training to improve agricultural yields.
Dr. Mnangagwa’s approach underscores the critical role of women in advancing household food security and income generation. The program is part of her broader efforts under the Agric4She framework, which includes traditional meal cookout competitions, donations of farming inputs, and workshops on climate-resilient agricultural practices
