Zimbabwe Mourns Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi

Zimbabwe joins the global community in mourning the passing of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash on Sunday, May 19, 202_REF. The crash also claimed the lives of Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and nine others, including unidentified crew members, who were traveling with President Raisi on the same flight. The president’s death occurred while he was returning from Azerbaijan, where he had attended the inauguration of a dam located near the border with Iran.

President Raisi’s passing has left a profound void in the world, one that will be challenging to fill. In a show of solidarity with the Iranian people, world leaders have begun sending condolence messages. Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his message, fondly remembered President Raisi as ‘a true friend of Russia’ and cherished the memories of the ‘wonderful man’ he was.
