ZANU PF is a Sacred Institution: President Mnangagwa Urges Party Unity and Discipline at Annual Conference

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe — Addressing the ZANU PF 21st Annual People’s Conference in Bulawayo, President Emmerson Mnangagwa emphasized the party’s sacred nature and called for vigilance in preserving ZANU PF’s revolutionary principles against any internal and external threats. In his address, the President highlighted the importance of discipline, adherence to the Constitution, and unity in guiding ZANU PF’s mission to uplift the lives of Zimbabweans.

Reinforcing Party Integrity and Ideological Discipline

At the heart of President Mnangagwa’s speech was an appeal to strengthen internal party systems to guard against potential infiltration by divisive elements. “ZANU PF musangano unoyera. MuZANU PF tine tsika yekukudzana nekuremekedzana. ZANU PF hayikwani muhomwe yemunhu,” he declared, underscoring that ZANU PF stands as a collective, people-centered institution.

The President pointed to specific mandates within the ZANU PF Constitution, particularly Article 2, Sections 8 and 9, which obligate members to respect and uphold party rules without exception. He urged the delegates to reaffirm their commitment to these guiding principles, which serve as the ideological backbone of ZANU PF.

Addressing Indiscipline and Political Opportunism

President Mnangagwa addressed the issue of party indiscipline, warning against the dangers posed by opportunists and malcontents. According to Article 3, Section 19, Sub-section (1), ZANU PF members are bound by a duty of loyalty to both the party and its leadership, he explained. This section also compels members to uphold integrity, and act in a way that preserves the party’s reputation.

“Within ZANU PF, members toe the correct line of the revolution. There is no room for ideological indecisiveness,” President Mnangagwa asserted. By emphasizing these constitutional obligations, he set a clear standard for party behavior, aiming to shield ZANU PF from elements that may seek to undermine its unity.

Commitment to Party Vision and Unity

President Mnangagwa urged all party cadres, from the cell to national levels, to stay dedicated to ZANU PF’s vision and principles, emphasizing that each member holds a revolutionary duty. He stressed that unity, peace, and harmony are essential for the nation’s growth, saying, “Unity, unity, unity, peace and harmony are essential cogs to amplify the growth and prosperity our country seeks and deserves.” This call to unity is not just for the party but also a key factor in achieving broader national development goals.

Strengthening ZANU PF’s People-Centered Legacy

Throughout his address, President Mnangagwa underscored ZANU PF’s people-centered mandate, reminding leaders of their role in fostering prosperity and stability. His message served as a reminder that ZANU PF’s strength lies in its capacity to act in the best interest of the Zimbabwean people, a theme reinforced by his reference to Article 3, Section 19, which obligates members to conduct themselves honorably and prevent any conduct that could bring the party into disrepute.

Looking Forward: A Call for Unity and Leadership

President Mnangagwa’s message concluded with a powerful reminder that ZANU PF’s revolutionary journey is continuous and collective. Leaders were encouraged to exhibit loyalty and lead by example, promoting unity within every level of the party structure. With this reinforced commitment to the Constitution and party values, ZANU PF continues to position itself as a guardian of Zimbabwe’s independence and prosperity.
