Zimbabwe Joins Africa in Celebrating a Milestone: Africa Day 2024

Today, Zimbabwe stands in solidarity with the rest of Africa to commemorate Africa Day, a momentous occasion marking the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, which later transformed into the African Union. This year’s celebrations are guided by the theme “Educate an African fit for the 21st century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality and relevant learning in Africa.”

As we celebrate Africa Day, Zimbabwe reaffirms its commitment to African unity, solidarity, and progress. We honor our nation’s rich history and contributions to the continent’s liberation and development. Our country’s dedication to African unity is a testament to our belief in the power of collective progress and the importance of working together towards a brighter future.

The theme of this year’s Africa Day resonates deeply with Zimbabwe’s own efforts to enhance its education sector. Our government has been working tirelessly to ensure access to quality education for all, recognizing its transformative power in shaping the minds of future generations.

As we commemorate Africa Day, we acknowledge the progress made thus far and recommit ourselves to addressing the challenges that lie ahead. We celebrate the diversity and resilience of the African spirit, and we stand united in our pursuit of a more prosperous and equitable continent for all.
