Zimbabwe-UK Trade Soars by 76%: A Fruit of Engagement and Re-engagement Policy

Trade between Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom has seen a significant boost, with a 76% increase over the last 12 months. This remarkable growth is attributed to President Mnangagwa’s engagement and re-engagement policy and the UK’s interest in normalizing relations.
UK Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Peter Vowles, expressed pride in the growth and hopes to see further improvement, particularly in renewables and exports to the UK, which generates foreign currency and creates jobs in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe’s top exports to the UK include beverages, tobacco, and vegetables, while imports from the UK include specialized machinery and telecommunications equipment. The two nations are working to maximize trade and investment partnerships, including duty-free and quota-free access to British markets, to improve economic relations and connect the two peoples.
