Kapfupi Injured in Car Accident Involving Gifted Vehicle from Wicknell Chivayo
Harare, Zimbabwe – Renowned comedian and musician Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima sustained head and chest injuries in a car accident on December 23, 2024. The incident occurred while he was driving a silver Toyota Aqua gifted to him earlier this year by businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
The accident was confirmed by radio personality and close friend DJ Tafadzwa Shugeta, who shared the news on social media. Shugeta posted photos of the wrecked vehicle and updated fans on Kapfupi’s condition, noting that while the “Mai Nga” hitmaker did not sustain serious injuries, he is experiencing chest and head pain. Shugeta expressed his well-wishes, stating, “Prayers and thoughts to my brother Kapfupi… Get well soon Chibaba.”
This incident has drawn attention due to the fact that it marks the fourth vehicle donated by Chivayo to be involved in accidents this year. Earlier in February, musician Baba Troy crashed a Toyota Aqua gifted by Chivayo just a month after receiving it.
In October, Daisy Mtukudzi, widow of the late Oliver Mtukudzi, was involved in an accident with a Toyota Fortuner she had recently received from Chivayo.Additionally, self-styled cleric Talent Madungwe crashed his Chivayo-gifted Toyota Aqua and was later sentenced for negligent driving.
Kapfupi, born to a Malawian father, Joseph Manjalima, in Zimbabwe, is celebrated for his contributions to the entertainment industry. He gained prominence through productions like “Notorious Kapfupi” and “What Goes Around Comes Around.” In 2010, his song “Mai Nga” topped charts on the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, earning him national acclaim.
As fans await further updates on Kapfupi’s recovery, the pattern of accidents involving vehicles donated by Wicknell Chivayo has sparked discussions about the implications of these charitable gestures.
