Crackdown on Land Barons: Zimbabwe Government Takes Action

Harare, Zimbabwe – In a significant move against corruption, the Zimbabwean government has arrested several land barons and a sitting ZANU PF Councillor for fraudulent activities related to illegal land sales.

Fraudulent Land Deals Exposed

Three land barons, Robert Makwiza, Robson Mugwagwa, and Patricia Rusike, appeared in court charged with fraud after creating a cooperative using fake documents to sell 178 residential stands. Meanwhile, Councillor Patson Chipunza was arrested for subdividing and selling land belonging to the late Amos Midzi’s estate.

Government Cracks Down on Corruption

The arrests signal a renewed effort by the government to hold land barons accountable for their illicit activities, which have left many desperate home-seekers financially stranded.
